How to register an NGO in Ukraine?

It’s quite easy to register an NGO in Ukraine. All you have to do is just follow five steps:

1. Prepare the Statutes of an NGO

2. Conduct the gathering of founders

3. Prepare the necessary documents

4. Submit the documents

5. Receive a confirmation of registration

Step 1. Prepare the Statutes of an NGO

The NGO Statutes is the main document, which defines your organisation: what internal rules does it have, who controls it and what happens to its assets. Online you can find the statutes template which is approved by the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice. Special rules apply to youth/children NGOs.

Step 2. Conduct the gathering of founders

An NGO has to have at least two founders. At the gathering of founders you will have to make the following decisions and have them written in a gathering protocol:

• The goal of your NGO’s activity

• The name of your NGO

• Legal form of the NGO

• The Director of an NGO and its governing bodies

• Approval of the Statutes

Step 3. Prepare the necessary documents

These documents are:

• Registration application form

• Protocol of the founders’ gathering (signed)

• Information about the governing bodies

• Statutes (signed)

Step 4. Submit the documents

You need to submit the registration documents within 60 days from the day on which the NGO founders’ gathering was held.
